Baltimore Pride!

Last weekend, our team traded Zoom calls and Qualtrics surveys for a table at Baltimore Pride and wouldn’t you know it — it turned out to be one of the more energizing days we’ve had all semester.
Griffin spent the two days both fundraising for The Trevor Project and also using the occasion to gather feedback directly from the community our research aims to serve. Through a series of brief, informal interviews, he presented materials for a prospective study on queer people of color about preferences for attributes related to mental health care.

Survey data can tell us a lot, but it can’t capture the tone of someone’s voice when they describe a decision that mattered to them, or the follow-up question that surfaces a detail no checkbox would’ve caught. Getting out from behind a screen and having real conversations, even brief ones, reminded gave us new angles to bring back into our study design. It was not easy or comfortable (not shown: sweltering heat) but it was a great time.

We’re grateful to everyone who stopped by, shared their thoughts, and supported The Trevor Project along the way. Huge shout out and thank you to Griffin’s dad for his support and our amazing banner!!
